FLIPPIN, ARK. The 2015 B.A.S.S. Elite Series is quickly taking shape with the addition of five Ranger anglers who earned invitations via the Northern Opens. By claiming each of the five automatic qualifications from the Northern Opens, Ranger Pros made it a clean sweep for the legendary boat brand.
Ranger anglers who qualified for the 2015 B.A.S.S. Elite Series through the Northern Opens include 2014 Northern Opens Angler of the Year Koby Kreiger along with Micah Frazier, Brandon Coulter, Seth Feider and Brent Ehrler.
Automatic qualifications into the 2015 B.A.S.S. Elite Series were made official on Sunday when the third and final 2014 Northern Open wrapped up on Lake St. Clair near Detroit. Kreiger, who finished the event with a combined weight of 62.2 pounds, took fourth place on his way to a one-point margin of victory in the Angler of the Year race.
“We’re fortunate to have such a talented group of anglers representing our brand,” said Ranger Boats President Randy Hopper. “Their success, both individually and as a team, is a tremendous accomplishment and we’re excited for them. We want to congratulate each of these anglers and wish them the best of luck in any and all tours they fish in the coming year.”
Invitations to participate in the next year’s Elite Series Tour are extended to the Top 5 anglers in the Angler of the Year race. Based on the B.A.S.S. Open rules, any angler who has already qualified for the next year’s Elite Series cannot do so based on their standing in any of the three Opens’ Angler of the Year points race. Anglers Ott DeFoe (second place) and Aaron Martens (third place) were already qualified for the 2015 B.A.S.S. Elite Series, meaning that two anglers outside of the Top 5 (Feider, sixth place; Ehrler, seventh place) received the automatic invites.
